Our take
Hi Dotikers!
Anthropic is targeting $70 billion in revenue by 2028, up from an expected $4.7 billion in 2025. The goal is huge, but not crazy: real value is being created in APIs and B2B tools that integrate directly into workflows. The real challenge isn't finding customers, it's making money. The company wants to go from negative margins last year to 50% in 2025, then 77% in 2028.
The foundations are there. Anthropic is now valued at $183 billion, has over 300,000 enterprise customers, and is already generating $5 billion annually. Claude Code is becoming a cornerstone with strong adoption: it's the kind of recurring product that can sustain explosive growth. If this continues, doubling every year for two years becomes credible. Otherwise, we're just looking at an overhyped PowerPoint.
The real comparison stings: OpenAI should hit $20 billion by the end of 2025, but while burning massive capital. Anthropic is playing a different card, more industrial, leaning on Amazon and Google to handle the load while compressing costs. The bet holds if two things happen: large enterprises consolidate around a few platforms, and computing costs drop fast. If either falters, the $70 billion goes up in smoke.
Three indicators to watch right now: how much Claude Code brings in, how much enterprises are spending on average, and whether the announced margin materializes. Everything else is window dressing.
