Our take

Hi Dotikers!

Three years after stepping down as CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos is making a major comeback in the operational world with Project Prometheus, an artificial intelligence startup that could redefine the future of engineering. Revealed by the New York Times, this ambitious project benefits from a colossal $6.2 billion in funding, making it one of the best-funded startups in the world from its inception, with a direct and substantial contribution from Bezos himself.

Bezos is not embarking on this venture alone. He shares the co-CEO role with Vik Bajaj, a renowned physicist and chemist who cut his teeth at Google X alongside Sergey Brin. Bajaj's track record is impressive: he notably contributed to the self-driving car project that became Waymo, co-founded the life sciences lab Verily, and most recently led Foresite Labs. An expertise that perfectly combines fundamental science and technological innovation.

Unlike many AI startups that focus on language processing or content generation, Project Prometheus aims for a different goal: developing AI tools to accelerate engineering and manufacturing processes in strategic sectors such as computing, automotive, and aerospace. The idea is to create systems capable of automating and optimizing physical engineering work, from robotics to developing new materials and scientific research.

With this striking comeback, Bezos is not just investing in AI, he's taking command of a vision that could radically transform how we design and manufacture the technologies of tomorrow.

Alexis.
