Our take

Hi Dotikers!

You might be wondering, like I am, why Sundar Pichai (Google's CEO) has been tweeting bananas on his X profile:

The answer is simple: Google finally realized that having great models (perhaps the best?) isn't enough. They're now focusing on communication (and hopefully UX soon? 😊). What was once OpenAI's signature move, teasing new model releases on Twitter with cryptic, often playful symbols, is becoming mainstream. Now Google's jumping in, and they've chosen the banana as their symbol! But beyond the marketing move (which worked brilliantly), they've achieved a genuine technical breakthrough (as they often do lately).

Their new image generation model tops every leaderboard, but more importantly, it's taken a MASSIVE lead in image editing rankings. Using natural language, you can remove elements, add objects, change colors, and more, all on your existing images. Here's the kicker: this achievement is built on Gemini Flash 2.5, not even Google's most powerful model (that would be Pro 2.5), which suggests they're holding back even bigger surprises.

Google is arguably the most prolific player right now, and many are starting to bet on them to reach AGI first.

Check the gap!
