Our take
Hi Dotikers!
There are startups that ride a trend, and those that create a category. Lovable clearly belongs to the second: recall that this platform lets you build apps (front and back end) in natural language. Eight months after its launch, the company claims to have crossed $100 million in ARR. It has closed a $200 million funding round at a valuation of around $1.8 billion. At this stage, more than 10 million projects are said to have already been built on the platform.
The value proposition is simple and formidable: create an app or website by talking to an AI, extending the power to build beyond the circle of coders. The timing is excellent, the storytelling sharp, and you can feel the product touch of a team obsessed with onboarding and speed. But this game won’t be won with bigger models or flashy benchmarks. It will be decided by the end-to-end experience: from conversation to deployment, with testing, security, incident recovery, and controlled inference costs.
Good news for developers: you won’t be replaced, only promoted to managers of an army of agents. Competition is already here, from Copilot to Cursor to Replit, and Lovable’s truly defensible moat will be its ability to turn mainstream spark into professional daily use—with maintainable projects and rock-solid retention.
