Our take
Hi Dotikers!
Mistral AI has just announced Mistral 3, and the Mistral Large 3 model is drawing particular attention. With 675 billion parameters, it is the largest model ever released by Mistral. Its size places it in the same category as giant models like DeepSeek V3.2, marking a significant step forward for the European AI ecosystem.
What is noteworthy is that Mistral is not limiting itself to this very large model designed for heavy, highly equipped infrastructures. The company continues to focus on accessibility with the Ministral 3 family, which is much lighter and designed to run on modest or embedded environments.
With this new lineup, Mistral aims to cover the entire spectrum. On one side, a massive model that can compete with global leaders in terms of capabilities. On the other, compact and open source models that allow advanced AI integration without relying on a major cloud provider or a complex architecture.
And it is worth highlighting: this progress clearly puts Europe, and particularly France, back at the forefront of the open source landscape, alongside Chinese models.

A.
