Our take

Hi Dotikers!

The release of Nano Banana Pro marks a major turning point in visual AI. Wired’s hands-on review makes it very clear: Google has just delivered a breakthrough that genuinely shifts the landscape. The model now generates 4K images, produces perfectly readable text inside visuals, and plugs directly into Google products like Slides and advertising tools.

Three things stand out immediately. First, the near total removal of text-generation failures, a longstanding pain point across the entire industry. Second, a visual quality level that is high enough to be used in real production contexts with zero cleanup. Third, a quality jump so large that it challenges the idea that these models are reaching any kind of ceiling.

This release proves that scaling is still working and working better than expected. You can feel Google’s strategy very clearly: between Gemini 3 and Nano Banana Pro, the company is building a structural lead. The gap is visible, and OpenAI knows it. That is exactly why OpenAI is preparing a new plan to try to recover its leadership.

Nano Banana Pro is not an iteration. It is a break. A release that resets the race and shows that the AI industry is nowhere near slowing down. And if the jump feels huge, it is because it is. This is probably the most impressive quality leap we have seen in years.
