Our take

Hi Dotikers!

Remember when Dario Amodei was the cautious one in the room? In early 2026, Anthropic's CEO was publicly warning rivals about reckless spending and the dangers of scaling too fast. Fast forward a few months, and his company has reportedly signed compute contracts worth up to $517 billion in just eleven months. That's 14.8 gigawatts of capacity, roughly the output of ten nuclear reactors, all to keep Claude fed and happy.

The shopping list is dizzying: a $200 billion agreement with Google for TPUs, more than $100 billion committed to Amazon over ten years, $45 billion with British newcomer Nscale, and $35 billion with Lambda, a cloud provider most people had never heard of last year. Apparently "reckless risk" is only reckless when someone else is taking it.

To be fair, Anthropic still trails OpenAI's staggering $750 billion plan through 2030, so you could argue this is simply the price of staying in the race. And with an IPO reportedly on the horizon, locking in a decade of computing power makes strategic sense. But let's call this what it is: the safety-first lab has fully joined the arms race it once criticized. The irony is thick enough that even Sam Altman, hardly a poster child for restraint, is now warning about "unsustainable silliness" in the compute buildout, particularly from neo-cloud providers whose financial structures look increasingly circular.

The real question isn't whether Anthropic needed the capacity. It's whether anyone in this industry can still afford to be prudent when the cost of caution is irrelevance. Right now, the answer seems painfully clear, and it should worry anyone watching where all this borrowed silicon is heading.

Let's dig in.

Alex.

Stop Paying for 10 Tools. One AI Does It All.

Most e-commerce sellers are running their store across 6 to 10 separate tools — and spending more time managing software than growing their business. StoreClaw replaces your entire stack with one autonomous AI engine that monitors competitors, optimizes listings, automates marketing, and tracks real profit across Shopify, Amazon, and beyond.

It doesn't wait for you to ask. It runs 24/7 in the background, so you wake up to a full dashboard instead of a list of things you forgot to check.

Connect your store, and StoreClaw gets to work — no prompts, no complex setup, no six-app stack.

Free to start. No credit card required.
