Our take

Hi Dotikers!

Anthropic just dropped Fable 5.1, and while version point releases rarely make headlines, this one deserves your attention for reasons that have little to do with benchmarks.

Yes, the numbers are good. Fable 5.1 outperforms its predecessor and OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol on most tests, with a spectacular jump on Terminal-Bench-Science, going from 24.7% to 52.6% on agentic scientific research tasks. And yes, cache reads are now 75% cheaper, which will make a real difference for anyone running serious workloads. But honestly, the raw performance gains elsewhere sit in the modest 2 to 4% range. If you were expecting fireworks, this is more of a very competent sparkler.

The real story is everything around the model. Anthropic finally listened to the two loudest complaints from its enterprise users. First, the safeguards. Fable 5 had a habit of treating every security researcher like a supervillain in training, and those interventions now happen 60% less often in cyber contexts and 85% less on benign biology questions. Second, and more importantly, data retention. The new Enterprise Frontier Safeguards system stores monitoring data in the customer's own cloud, encrypted with the customer's own keys, with automated detection and zero human review on Anthropic's side. For banks, hospitals and anyone in a regulated industry, this removes the single biggest blocker to adoption.

Add the opening of a watermark detection API for EU regulators and fact-checkers, and a clear picture emerges: Anthropic is playing the trust game while others play the leaderboard game. That is the smarter long-term bet. Models get commoditized fast, but a reputation for taking enterprise privacy and EU compliance seriously compounds over time. The lesson for the whole industry is simple: sometimes the killer feature is not intelligence, it is knowing when to get out of the way.

2 minutes. Your URL. A customer profile worth using.

Most founders can describe their product. They can't describe their customer. Not in a way that actually changes how they sell.

HubSpot for Startups built a free tool to fix that. Paste in your URL, answer a few quick questions, and it generates a structured profile of your best-fit customer. Firmographics, buying triggers, the works.

Takes 2 minutes. No spreadsheet required.
