Our take

Hi Dotikers!

This week, something decisive happened in the AI landscape. With the release of GPT-5.1 Codex Max, OpenAI is not introducing yet another coding model, it is putting a new type of teammate on the table. This system can stay on a single software project for more than twenty-four hours, maintain coherence and context, and push the work forward without drifting. In our view, this marks a quiet but fundamental shift. AI is no longer completing your code, it is taking responsibility for part of the engineering lifecycle.

Our analysis is straightforward. Codex Max brings a level of reasoning continuity that changes how technical work is structured. Its automatic context compaction enables multi-million-token sessions, which means that long refactorings, architectural continuity and complex tool orchestration can now be delegated without constant oversight.

For any organization building digital products, competitiveness will no longer depend only on code quality, it will depend on the maturity with which these agents are integrated into governance. The real question becomes how we structure guardrails, validation protocols and documentation practices around a system that works nonstop and produces a volume of pull requests no team has ever managed before.

One fact remains. Even with rising benchmark scores, a meaningful share of the output still requires expert review. Human engineers do not disappear, they take on a higher role, responsible for meaning, structure and quality.

For those expecting AI to take their jobs, it seems it will start by taking their night shifts first.
