Our take

Hi Dotikers!

Alex Karp published a shareholder letter on Monday evening that deserves to be framed. Palantir just reported 1.9 billion dollars in quarterly revenue, up 93 percent, and more than a billion in net profit, which is more in three months than the company's total revenue over the same period last year. And what does its CEO do with that result in hand? He accuses the AI industry of having Marxist overtones.

The argument, once stripped of the folklore: the labs building the large models are trying, knowingly or not, to seize the means of production of their own partners. You pay to access a model, and along the way you fund the migration of your know-how into a system that will eventually sell your own job back to you. Karp also came up with a metaphor for buying tokens that decency prevents me from reproducing here.

The awkward part is that he is not alone. A week ago, Satya Nadella made a strikingly similar case to analysts: keep your orchestration layer separate from the model, never depend on a single provider, and buy our in-house models while you are at it. Two companies worth hundreds of billions are now telling IT departments that the frontier labs are partners worth watching closely.

The diagnosis holds up. The packaging, far less so. Karp is not defending enterprise sovereignty out of philosophical conviction, he is selling an architecture, and the vocabulary of class struggle here remains a commercial pitch dressed up as social critique. The market settled the matter in its own way, with the stock up nearly 15 percent after the close. Denouncing the revolution while billing for insurance against it is an excellent business model.
